Is this correct? I tried this several times with different media using Nero 5.5.8.0 and got nothing but coasters. But TRACK AT ONCE was fine. This was only on burning CUE image files though...

  2. I've answered this in another thread. It probably has something to do with how Nero works with your particular burner. There was a thread at the VCDImager forums: forums.vcdimager.org that stated that there was still a (rare) bug in the newest versions of Nero in burning CUE/BIN images on some drives.

Otherwise, you can definitely burn CUE/BIN images in DAO and indeed, you are supposed to do it.

    Very interesting !

I'll keep checking for the next Nero version to see if this works.. then again, i could try another program just to test the disk at once method.

You might want to see if your burner has new firmware as well. I have a Creative Labs el-cheapo drive ($99) that wouldn't burn DAO in Nero... It was giving me a couple other problems as well with different apps (CDRWin)

I eventually found out it was really a rebadged Lite-On burner, so I took a chance and re-flashed it with the Lite-On firmware and not only did it fix the DAO problem, but it also cleared up all the errors with other apps as well...

    Thanks for the tip..

I have a HP CD-Writer Plus. I checked but don't believe there is newer firmware. Of course, HP's site is not fun to navigate through.

    jerry62,

I myself had the same problem with CDRWin & Nero's DAO mode (v5.5.7.8) just last week...and after many coasters I finally wisened up and tried DAO/64 option instead of just DAO or TAO...and it worked. Finally my DVD player recognized my VCDs. I hope that helps a bit.

    Regards,
    Avik

jerry62 - The DAO/64 option for me is listed when i choose burn image in Nero 5.5.7.8, I get the burn dialog box with the Write method - of the methods listed in drop-down box I see Track-At-Once, Disk-At-Once & Disk-At-Once/64 - I picck the 3rd option (DAO/64) and only then my VCDs are recognized by my DVD player & by my computer's software (WinDVD)- not when ipick the other 2 methods. lemme know if you dont see this option...I'm curious to see if this option is hardware dependant and only appears for certain burners.

It must be hardware dependent, as I don't get that...
Unless there is some preferences option that enables it ?
I have an HP CD-Writer (16f) that is actually made by Mitsumi. Their number for it is CR-4848TE, although I think it is the same internally as Mitsumi's CR-4808TE. Is yours newer?

I think you are right...its probably hardware dependant...because I saw on CloneCD's site that my burner is of the very few ones that can correctly do a DAO/64 image burn...the kind that can make an exact replica of SafeDisc 2 protected games if you are familiar with that stuff. And my burner is indeed newer but I think that option DAO/64 really depends on the version of nero, not so much if its a newer burner it has that feature because most new burners dont have it either...but more than likely i agree - its probably a hardware-dependant feature.

  13. Hello,

I think, DAO/64 is not hardware dependant... is newer in the version Nero5578..... Upgrade to 5578 or 5580.

    Bye

    Toni.

Nope, it's not that. I have had 5.5.8.0 for quite some time now.
