    I have a Canon Eos 550d slr which can capture hd videos but i want to know if i can capture videos to computer using HDMI cable or the a/v digital out cable? if so, which software should i use? or do i need any other hardware?

    Use the USB cable, plus the software that came with the camera to transfer video. Alternately, if you have or can buy an appropriate SD card reader for your computer you should be able to copy files from the SD card. There should be instructions in one of the the manuals that came with your camera for doing the transfers with the USB cable or copying files directly from the SD card.

    HDMI cables are for video playback. If you used HDMI output, you would need an HDMI capture device for the computer. However, it would be a waste of your time and money to use a PC to re-record the digital video already stored in your camera when you can simply transfer the files.

    Thanks. My dslr can take videos in 1080p and i am using a kit lens that comes with the slr body i.e. 18-55mm IS II. The problem
    is that when i record videos, i do not get noiseless video. Some noise/grains will be present in the video. Might be because of the cheap lens i use i'm not sure.

    with proper light your video shouldn't have any grain even with the stock lens that cam with it.

    Post a sample of the "noise". My guess is you are seeing compression artifacts. Up the bit rate to max and see if the quality is better.

    the t2i 1080p video is vbr 40-50mbps only, no choices.
