Guys-

I tried all players for my PC dvd player. I tried the ATI player,WinDVD and Powerdvd. Power dvd is what I use by default. Due to NO macrovision..

Any rate. I called bestbuy today where I bought the PC. I stated that I am running my dvd player thru my ATI Radeon TV/OUT. I am running the sound out of a splitter from the sound output on the onboard sound system to TWO rca cables to my TV.

I told him that I have to CRANK the volume on the PC to get halfway decent sound to the TV? I have to turn the TV to 3/4's to even get hearable sound at all?

I said if I spring for a NEW more powerfull sound card would it some what amp the sound a bit? He stated NO due to its ONLY a signal. You then would run the signal thru amplified speakers. That makes sense except for this......

Why when I put volume at half on my pc and my amplified PC speaker system I can play an MP3 and it sounds like I am at a concert. But when I insert a DVD player and touch NO volume settings from the MP3 earlier I can NOT hear it at all? What is going ON?

I have the DMA and digital effects set on the DVD player and the cd rom at that also?

Its the same thing for the ati player and windvd.

So it seems NOT to be the signal? Because mp3s play crisp and LOUD. Games play crisp and loud. DVDs play like they are downgraded by half the volume?

Is there a sound boost or an EQ for powerdvd at all? Or dvd tweekers to boost software dvd settings?

I was going to spring for a 5.1 card but whats the use if I am only running one set of RCA cables and am only going to get the same signal that I am getting NOW and no SOUND BOOST?

Can someone help me out please? I am confused?

did anyone notice a difference when they switched from thier onboard sound chip processors to a NEW sound card for DVDs?

Thanks for your much appreciated time...
