I need a program to cut AVI and MTS video together and create a AVI final product. I need something very simple and user friendly. I don't need any special features at all. What is the most simple free video editing program out there that can accomplish this? Thanks in advance for your help!

You can try freemake video converter, load avi and mts files, click join video at top right, click on the scissor to cut each clip, click to avi.

And I don't think you will find that many other free editors with such support.

Thank you Baldrick for the suggestion. I tried Freemake out and it seems to be just what I am looking for. Very simple! I am haveing one issue. The avi file Freemake created plays fine in WMP, but it wont play in MPC. This seems strange to me. Any idea what might be happening?

Try change preset. Click to avi and under preset change to tv quality xvid mp3. Or use the preset Same as source but click on the edit preset button and change the video codec to xvid.

Because the default avi with h264 video might not work perfect. If you want h264 video convert to mp4 or mkv instead.
