Hi all,
asking how much hard drive space will I need for an hour long footage on my DV Tape, then downloading it onto my hard drive. The file format will be AVI.

Assuming you mean uncompressed AVI? - about 12-13GB per hour.

MiniDV tape would be ~13GB

uncompressed RGB: ~112 GB/hr
uncompressed YUY2: ~75 GB/hr
uncompressed YV12: ~66 GB/hr
DV: ~13 GB/hr
What's on the DV tape is already DV compressed. All you want to do is transfer that data to the computer and wrap it in an AVI container. There is no benefit to converting it to an uncompressed format.
