i think the most interesting part about this demo is that it says that the gpu acceleration is OpenCL based, not CUDA. this is significant as it strongly implies that such acceleration could be used with any vendors gpu's, including amd's and intel's not just nvidia's.
can't wait to see this software released and take the demo for a spin.

Not just implied; Sony has officially stated as much (for AMD and Nvidia, not Intel specifically).

Take advantage of the power of the GPU for smoother video playback and faster rendering. Vegas Pro leverages the GPU for video FX, transitions, compositing, pan/crop, and track motion. Vegas Pro 11 supports GPU devices from AMD and NVIDIA to accelerate your workflow. -
interesting, prior versions of vegas has gpu powered encoding, both the cuda powered main concept encoder and a sony gou encoder that kind of sucked, i wonder if sony licensed main concept's open cl encoder or if they custom coded their own.
i would have to guess that they just licensed main concept's OCL sdk, which i think should point to a pretty good gpu powered encoder.
