  1. So my friend sent me MPEG-2 videos (which were decoded from his Tivos) & those contain closed captions / subtitles which can be seen only via playing those videos on VLC player (that's how he plays them too but without any problems) - at least I tried with other players I have but got nothing. But there's one issue - with or without the CC on, VLC barely plays those videos - first it goes all fine but near the middle of a 20 mins video the audio starts disappearing & then disappears at all, then the video goes slow & then everything freezes/pauses so I have to restart that VLC & have same problem - same goes for all those MPEG-2 videos. Also the player freezes when I jump back during playing those. I tired playing them on other players, like MPC, and everything is fine there, but CC (which are actually important to me) don't show up.
I downloaded / reinstalled latest version of VLC, downloaded newest codecs, etc but the problem still stays. Please help!

    Kind regards

  2. How did he send them to you? Maybe something was damaged in the transfer ?

Ask what version of VLC your friend is using, try using the same one

  3. He uploaded them to filehosting site & gave the link. Not sure about his VLC version though - older or latest one.
I can play without any problems those videos in MPC, Windows player, edit/play/convert in say AVS converter or editor, Winamp doesn't play them at all though.
I would also like to know if there are any other players that would play MPEG-2 with CC/subtitles visible?

    Doesn't mpchc support cc?

Or they might be corrupt as poison mentions. VLC shouldn't have any problem playing mpeg2. Can you redownload them again?

  5. No, the CC don't show up in MPCHC - I tried everything in preferences but no result. Unfortunately, I can't redownload the videos.
