can any one tell me how to convert M2TS files to mkv with truehd audio.

tsmuxer to demux all the streams, mkvmerge to create the mkv file

Add m2ts in tsmuxer, choose demux. Add the separate streams files in mkvmergegui(mmg). Save as new mkv.

Or if you want to shrink the m2ts to a smaller mkv then try handbrake or freemake video converter.

another question is the video of a mkv as good as a m2ts file.

Yes, if you just use tsmuxer and mkvmergegui it will be same quality. If you shrink it you will lose a bit quality.

okay tis is working pretty good but i have one question should i be changing the FPS

If the original m2ts is 23.976 fps then you need to set the avc video portion to FPS 24000/1001 in the format specific options tab in mkvmerge,if its 25 fps to begin with then no need to set it.
