Ok so I know how to use VirtualDub, but I everytime I try to open an FLV file it wont work. Do I need anything to make it work?

  2. You need the FLV source plugin to start.

Put the plugin in VirtualDub's plugins32 folder.

Then you'll need a VFW decoder for whatever video compression is used in the file. And an ACM audio decoder for the audio. ffdshow has VFW decoders for all the types of video used in FLV files.

fcchandler also has an aacacm for decoding aac audio which is in most newer FLV found on Youtube with H264 video.

You'll also want to install ffdshow and under vfw configuration, choose ffmpeg-mt for H264 and libavcodec for FLV1, Theora, VP3, VP5, VP6, VP6F and VP8.

Here is the link to all of fcchandler's stuff. Everything listed is essential to Virtualdub except for Virtualdub-MPEG2 which is way outdated and with the mpeg2 plugin and ac3acm and ac3 plugin, there isn't much need for.

EDIT: Although this is a great place for help with Virtualdub, you might want to also check out the Virtualdub forum. I visit both of these sites daily.
