Probably stupid question?

I've looked and can't seem to find this out. Is it possible to make a a svcd or mpeg 2 format in one file and burn that to a dvd/r. Instead of making 2- 3 disks on vcd.

of course, but you'd be better to put it in dvd format if you'll use a dvd-r. I recomend dvdit if you can get it. You can get info on the subject in the convert section of the site.
