I am getting ready to burn a bunch home video DVD's from some family members. My father in law is checking his printer to see if can print onto the DVD's. If it does I was thinking about these:http://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-97016-DataLifePlus-Printable-100-Disc/dp/B002OOWC8I/ref...0558252&sr=8-7

If it won't print onto the DVD what is everyones advice on the print and apply labels. I didn't know if the label would in any way affect the disk preformance or the life span. I just wan't to do something besides writing on the disk with a sharpie. Any other options???

    Thanks

Whatever you do, DON'T apply labels to the discs! Nothing but problems will come of it.

I found an old thread on here from years ago with many people having problems from the sticky labels. So do the disk that can be printed on from a printer have problems as well or just the add on sticky labels?

  5. Just sticky labels. The discs that are printable are not the same as discs with sticky labels applied.

    Listen to Mrswala.

    DO NOT USE STICKY LABELS.

They ruined all my original dvds ( when I was starting to label dvds.)

    Get the Epson http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=C11CA45201.

I use the R280 and can get re manufactured ink online.
I assume you will able to as well.

  7. Exactly right. Forget the sticky labels.

AFAIK, only upper-end Epson printers can print on discs, along with some Canons that must be modified. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm thinking of getting one soon.

A rather less desirable alternative is LightScribe, lots of burners out there have it, and they're easily identifiable. The logo will be on the front of the tray. For text-only labels, it's okay. I've been using LightScribe blanks for a couple years now.

    Good luck.

[EDIT] Psco2007 beat me to it. Thanks for the link. That appears to be about as cheap a price as one can find, same as NewEgg's price, but free shipping.
