    Greetings, possibly an ip address error, try opening a command prompt on server, type in ipconfig /all, see what your ip address(es) are. Then open a web browser on same machine and goto www.whatsmyip.org and see what that ip address is showing. You made need to use dyndns www.dyndns.org or some such solution. Just an idea, good luck.

    "dyndns" ... this is only required where the server is using an internet service without static ip address ... should it change at any point then clients cannot find it.

    ====

    Lan yes ... external internet no

    1: Add a static ip address in the modem/ router
    2: Configure server to use this ip only
    3: Use port forwarding in modem/router to include required ports and direct them to the servers static address

    Save and reboot modem/router ... reboot server ... try external connection again

    PS: Go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ ... this is the ip number you would connect to ... include that port 8080 ect stuff and it should be right to go
