Hello, I have scoured the web (including related posts on this forum) for details of how to do this, but the exact technique is still slightly beyond me ;

Can someone out there restore partially overwritten/deleted .MOV files?

I have some .MOV files that were deleted from a video camera, recovered with undelete software, but 3 out of 4 are unplayable.

Looking at the hex, it would appear the 'footers' of the 3 files are missing - they appear normally structured (uncorrupted) until they suddenly end. I have one working .MOV file from the same recovery on the same camera so I can see the required format, but I have not been unable to manually append the end of the good file in a fashion that allows the other videos to play. I am aware that .MOV files employ a very strict set of 'atom' hierarchies, however I have not located a good enough guide as to where each atom starts/stops in order to do this myself. I have also failed to find Dumpster for Windows.

Is anyone willing to have a look at one of these files to see if they have any kind of success so I know whether or not to pursue this? It would be hugely appreciated. Even recovery of still frames would be good.

(I have three .MOV files, each between 2 and 10 minutes long)

Many thanks - I hope someone is up for the challenge. Reward for success !

PS to be clear it's not just the strict 'footer' (bmoov onwards) that's missing, the files truncate part way through the main 'content' portion, but the files are otherwise uncorrupted/intact. Someone out there must be able to tidy up the end and make them playable !!
