Ok! I burnt with spruce up and now it plays in my playstation 2 but is very very poor quality. I also burnt with nero 5.778 and I have the same problem with quality. I used a friend of my friends dvdr and plays perfect. What settings should I use in nero dvd/iso dvd/udf dvd/rom or what? I have the dvdr from my friend,is there anyway I can find out from the disc what settings were used to burn it? The dvd-r's that I have burnt work perfect in my dvd player and computer so I know the quality of the disc's are good. I need someone's help as this is driving me crazy as I believe it might only be some software setting causing the problem in nero or sprueup. I just bought this ps2 today so it is brand new> Thanks in advance.Any help would be greatly appreciated!![]()

DVD-R techonlogy is still a bit "iffy".
I would try different brands of DVD-R discs.
My mom's Sampo player had problems with a generic DVD-R, but a Pioneer branded one player fine - using the same burn settings. -
I don't believe the quality of the disc's here makes a difference. The dvd/r that I got from my friend is the exact same brand that I have been trying to use.His plays fine and mine doesn't I was able to find out that the good dvd/r the one that play's fine in my ps2 is burnt in a (udf) file system so I will try that this time and see what happens.

The best dvdrs are verbatims, others may not play in yoiur ps2....but will play on dvd players with twin waive lasers......the dvdr quality is of the utmost importance, you only get what you pay for so you will waste your money buying unbranded dvdr's if you want to play in PS2 although some might work....

Just started burning and stuff ;p
However, did make a dvd-r and plays flawlessy in PSX2.
What I used and how it worked.
RCA DirecTV model 420RE, Connect Via Svideo to Sony TRV-520 D8 Camcorder, Recorded show to D8 Tape (i use some old Exabyte Backup tapes, don't buy video tapes) then connect cam to pc via firewire (pyro branded).. Then used Ulead VideoStudio SE to capture video to HD, (NTSC 29.97 720x480 MPEG2 Format Template).. After capture, I exited application (didn't do and thing else in Ulead). Then loaded up tmpgenc to encode the video to MPEG2 CBR 6000K/s, (took four hours on my machine). Came back next day. started myDVD SE, kept crooking on the mpeg file.. so look on forums here. and decided to buy dvd complete, created the dvd from it (menu templates SUCK in dvd complete..) created dvd image. then burned to Memorex DVD-R on a Pioneer DVR-A03.. Popped it in my AD-1500 played good, stuck in it my other dvd player croked (jvc sv-f80? <- POS) didn't work, dropped in ps2, booted fast, played flawlessly (just like it was live)..
My System specs:
Athlon 1400
512mb RAM
Win2k Pro
30gig Primary Drive
20gig Secondary Drive
60gig 2+0 Raid (promise ata100)
All maxtor HD's
Pyro Firewire Card (purchased w/Camera a year ago)
Pioneer DVR-A03 (purchased a week ago)
upgrading drives to UW 50G seagate scsi's in next week.
;p
And this was my first try ;o)
oh, plus note..
mpeg file was 3.9gigs.
dvd complete re-encoded the audio
dvd image was 3.72gig
avi capture was 20+gig file
Total Burn Time + Leadout Approx 45mins
Video length was 82minutes
Looks to have burned at 2x on non-pioneer supported media.
(all drives are formatted NTFS)
