I have two cable dishes on my roof. Can I use them as an an antenna?

an antenna for what? they are sized to receive a certain wavelength signal any other frequency won't work. and they are extremely directional.

I have used the coax connection from them for a radio antenna in the past when I lived in a basement apartment.
I actually got better reception with them than anything I used inside. May have been the fact the wires went up three floors above me.
