    Hi all,

I'm trying to hook up my computer via HDMI to my 52 inches HDTV. When using a video card with NVIDIA, the screen expand all the way. Meaning, the height and width fit perfectly, however, when I use a card that uses ATI, the screen does not expand to all the way, even though the resolution is to the max. I also downloaded the latest driver from ATI website.

I did try using the TV remote to expand it. But it doesn't do it. Is there something that I miss? Anyone experiences this before and can give some advices? Thank you.

Have you tried different settings in the ati catalyst control center?
Tried different resolutions? Try use same resolution as the hdtv to get it pixel mapped.

  3. Turn off any overscan compensation in the card's drivers.

wishstar99 - You should tell at least the manufacturer of your HDTV. The model number would be good to know as well. Some might know if there are special considerations for your particular HDTV. Please also tell what type of connection you have (HDMI, VGA, etc.) between your video card and the TV. The less you tell us about what you are doing, the less we can help you.

If you were connecting to a Samsung, the HDMI could be problematic as officially it's not a supported connection from a PC. Others will have to comment on whether or not that's an issue for Sony.

Try setting the ATI second monitor to the native resolution of your HDTV (usually 1366x768 or 1920x1080).

Okay, I tried. But failed =(

Baldrick: It doesn't work when I tried your solution. And I think your solution for the video.

The max resolution that I can set is 1920x1080.

  10. If you're going to use HDMI with an HDTV you need to pick one of the "standard" HDTV resolutions and refresh rates. For North America:

    1280x720 progressive at 60 Hz
    1920x1080 interlaced at 30 Hz

    Some HDTV will also support:

    1920x1080 progressive at 24 Hz
    1820x1080 progressive at 60 Hz

Yeah, for an ATI card and with Catalyst Control Center installed, it's here:

CCC -> Graphics Settings -> DTV -> Scaling Options.
    Set Overscan to zero.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

Aha! I played with the Catalyst Control last night and I was able to maximize the screen to get rid of the black borders. Now i forgot what that function calls. I'll check it again tonight when I'm home. Thank you all.
