  1. The answer to this may be simple, but could someone please tell me why certain players react so strangley to the mere difference between a blue cdr bottom and a green cdr bottom?

  2. I too, have been wondering the same question. Also, can someone explain to me how a cd is read? Is dos it read the reflection, bounced back from the cd? or what.

  3. It shouldn't matter.

However, the DVD player (that isn't designed to read CD-R/W discs) uses a different wavelength laser to a standard CD drive.

This leads to CD-R/W discs (CD-R in particular) to near being unreadable.

In this situation, minor factors and differences in reflectivity and opacity of the dye (which leads to colour) can result in big differences.

In a DVD player designed to read CD-R media (e.g., dual-laser) or a standard VCD player (which uses a CD drive), colour doesn't matter.

  5. The CD Color does not matter at all. You can use any color you want. However, there are some players who can't play other kinds of CD media. So if you want a reliable one, buy branded CDs such as Verbatim. I've heard that the Kodak Gold Ultima is a good kind of media. It protects your disc from data loss due to heat and scratches. I hope this help you

For car audio players that are iffy on CD-R, I have had good luck with the TDK media. They are white on top, usually, and always blue on the bottom. Very reliable burns too. I don't think I have had one bad burn on the TDK's...
