Hope someone can help me with this...
I've hacked a couple of DVD players using instructions from this site...looking to hack yet another.
The instruction for the hack of my Panasonic DMP-BD60 starts with: "I used a Kameleon 8 URC-8308 "
What is this Kameleon?
Thanks!
Caryna

It's a universal 8 device remote control: http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/dynamic/eshop_products.set/ref/1212/one-for-all-kam...8/display.html That may be a European only version. But the company seems to sell some models through Radio Shack.

 And welcome to our forums.

	Thank you!!

So, I take it that without this remote, I cannot hack my new player? No other hacks were listed for this particular model.

If your guide is correct, it probably would take that remote or similar to hack that player. But you might want to read that guide further and other remotes may work. But you might want to read that guide further and other remotes may work.

I think redwudz is right that you can probably use another model of remote. A lot of those URC hacks depend on the so-called "magic button" (setup) function. You can get a lot more info on that here:
 http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/faq.shtml#1.7

It's a very old page and there's probably more up-to-date info out there, but I haven't kept up with it.

Section 1.9, about the advanced codes, is probably the capability that you need.

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD605K (US model) & I see that it may be possible to hack unit. Is there an American Universal Remote that could be used, if so which one. I recently made a Region Free disc from a Region 2 PAL disc. Eventhough the disc I made is Region Free, the unit will not play it.
