I did a bonehead move and installed ChrisTV and it seems to have messed up my GBPVR settings....namely the
EPG program (mc2xml.exe) that retrieves my TV channel info. Would choosing a system restore date prior to experimenting with(installing) ChrisTV set it back to the way it was before? Does system restore go that far?

I can confirm what johns0 says as I've had to do it for my brother. It really does make the computer EXACTLY like it was on that date and time. Anything installed after that date and time will be gone after you do it.

My experience of system restore is that it only works if you, or the program you installed, actually created a restore point. Simply clicking on a date earlier than the present one meant it went through the motions and then said 'nothing to restore' or words to that affect.

I normally DO do my own system restore point when doing software installs but I don't think I did one this time.
-
Windows routinely creates system restore points every day ("System Checkpoints"). The computer I'm on right now shows a restore point for every day for the last 30 days. Unless you set a very small value on how much disk space System Restore is allowed to use, or installed ChrisTV a long time ago, you should have some restore points from before the ChrisTV install.

System restore will show dates back to 2 years and more if you set it to use max settings with a large hdd but i wouldn't go back that far and bork all the installs. I think, therefore i am a hamster.

Nope....doesn't work. EVERY time I have tried system restore for anything "software related" it has never worked.
