    Hi
I am newbie towards video editing and therefore i ask for your help.

I have up until now been using Movie Maker, which is not bad. What i would like to do is being able to put in different filters, speech bubble or like add ons that could give special effects. See Movie maker, beeing free, cannot do all that so is there an application that gives me an option of doing all that?

    - Not Premiere, because its too much overkill for my editing
    - prefrebly freeware where i can download special effects or other add ons

Thanks in advance for your help

There isn't yet much in the way of an integrated solution that is free. There are different tools that can do different parts of the process - e.g. WAX2 for effects, virtualdub for filters etc. - but nothing as comprehensive as Premiere or Vegas.

That said, both Premiere and Vegas have consumer versions that remove some of the more complex features and high-end bits, but keep a lot of useful features in place. Vegas Movie Studio and Premiere Elements both have downloadable trial versions that are worth a look at. You might also consider Corel Video Studio. Pinnacle does have a free editor that at first glance appears to offer quite a lot, but many of the features are time limited, and after 15 days what is left is pretty basic and knobbled.
