I did search for this, didn't find anything.
I have DVDAuthorGUI which I'm trying out for re-authoring VOB files. I need for it to create a menu for each file with a description. However when I press menu it asks for a "mpeg elementary stream." Forgive my ignorance, but what in the world are they talking about? I'm just simply trying to create a menu structure for the various selections, nothing more.
Tips?

You create the menu background (the video or still you want to use for the menu). That's the MPEG elementary stream, a DVD compliant M2V. It can be as simple as a black BMP with some text ('Play', 'Chapters', like that), or it can be as complex as you like. But you create it. If you make a 720x480 BMP for it to use, first go Menus->Create M2V Still and have it convert it to an M2V which you can then open in Menus->Add New Menu.
It's a rather simple authoring program, and it's your job to create anything you're going to use. There are no already created menus for you. Go back to TDA if that's what you want. Me, I much prefer the freedom of creating whatever kind of menus I want. -
I may have to go back to TMPGEnc DVD Author, even if it means taking all these VOB files and putting them on an external backup and doing this at home (where TMPGEnc DVD Author is installed). I have found this program incredibly difficult to use.
For one, even with your instructions and even with me finding this link (http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/countrymouse/DeMux_ReMuxDvdAudioTrack.pdf) which explains step-by-step how to create them, I STILL can't figure it out. Moreover, I keep getting the error message of "NAV Pockets are not detected in VTS_01_2.VOB. Please mulitiplex. Part of the problem, as I see it, is it wants to select individual VOB files. I don't want that. I want it to select the entire VIDEO_TS folder, ALL of it, as one.
Call me lazy, yes, but yes I do want it to create the menus FOR me. I don't want to have to do anything more than specify the files and voila--menus. Period. Anything more than that is, to me, like having to create a stapler by hand--right down to making the plastic mold & putting it all together--when all I want to do is have something to staple papers together & it ought not be so hard.
I have DVD Flick but it doesn't accept any DVD files at all, only AVI, MPEG4, etc. Converting all of this to AVI etc is time-consuming, but I'm starting to think that--lacking access to TMPGEnc DVD Author--it may be preferable to this. At least creating menus isn't so frustrating.
