I noticed in the Add/Remove Programs applet that I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 versions installed, both occupying large disk space. Can I uninstall them? I have the SQL service disabled so it seems I don't need them. Thanks.
(Using Win XP Pro SP3)

They can be safely removed if you aren't using them for anything. It seems the MS Office suite wants to install this now. It's worthless if you don't use an SQL database for anything.

Reminds of MS Office 97, which flooded the %WinDir%\system folder with tons of "ActiveA$$" stuff that were completely useless for Joe Average (and anybody else) who didn't want to mess around with macros, VBA, or "the power of the Internet" ( via Internet Explorer 3.02
).
