I've made mpeg2, 720x480 48kHz, from dvd movie using DVD2SVCD (CCE2.5) and authored (after a TMPGEnc remux) as dvd with my pioneer a03 using spruceup. This plays great on my apex660, 5131 and pioneer333. Because the menus are limited, I'd prefer to author with videopack5. DVDs authored with vp5 play fine on the apex machines, but play with sound out of sync on the pioneer until I press pause/play. Also, as the movie passes a chapter point, the audio drops out for about 2 seconds. Anyone use this combination with success? What may I be doing wrong with vp5?

When you say, "made mpeg2 ... from dvd movie" are you saying a retail DVD .vob and made an mpeg2 out of it? Why not pull the .vob right into VP5? If VP5 gives you a format warning, I recommend running it through VP5's format convertor to convert to VP5 compatible .vob before doing anything in VP5 with it (making chapter points etc).
If there is some reason you had to go through the TMPGEnc remux then open VP5 and use the format converter to turn it to .vob. Pull the .vob into VP5 and work with it. -
Thanks for th respose. I reencode to mpeg2 to reduce file the size to be able fit 2-3 movies onto dvdr. I'll try the format converter on the mpeg.
