I have an M2TS file (VC-1 codec) that I'd like to convert to an edit friendly format. For DVD's I use Lagarith which works very well, but when I try to do that with the M2TS file I encounter several problems. First, the video stutters horribly... maybe 5 fps. I have a fast system too: Core i7 2.66GHz, 6GB RAM, nVidia 260GT and Windows 7 x64. The file is on an SATA 7200 500GB drive.
The other problem is that Premiere CS5 only opens the first 3 minutes of the video.
So I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good codec for HD footage that will play nice with an NLE like Premiere?
