Which is good programme to create dvd from sony handycam dcr-sx43?

I have recently purchased Sony Handycam DCR-SX43. It records video as clips in mpeg format on flash drive. PMB software that came with it doesn't support authoring DVD.

What programme shall I use to convert my mpeg clips into DVD. I have those clips on my external HD. There is an option to burn DVD directly by connecting handycam to PC, but i have transfered all the clips to a HD as i wasn't able to burn them one by one.

I need to join these clips, edit some clips, trim or split b4 finalising the video files to be written/burned on DVD.

I have PC with Core i5, 6 GB RAM, 1TB HD, 1GB ATI Graphics card. OS I have is Windows 7 Home Premium.

I m a newbie, any help would be greatly appreciated.
