  1. I have not seen any codes for Chrysler DVD players, I have one that I want to be able to unlock. Model VP2DJF-19B160-CD
I was sold a region 2 player (we live in the US) on ebay, I had never heard of region codes before and now am in a bit of a bind! AND of coarse the seller doesn't accept returns! part # was one digit off, I should have not assumed that it would work... but ANY help would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Even if you are able to hack the region codes you probably won't be able to play NTSC DVD's, region 2 is in Europe(PAL land).

  3. REALLY!>!?!? Well that really sucks! So OUR (u.s.) dvd's are NTSC? Whatever that is!?

Im sorry to be in ignorant, but really I am cluelessly wondering here! The seller also said that IF I could use a copied DVD that could work, not that I want to be copying ALL Of our movies to use in the van.... but could that be true? I think i need to be filing a claim with ebay. SO NOT HAPPY!
Thanks for your help tho, I appreciate it!

  4. Yes if you use DVDFab HD Decrypter to make a backup they should work.

  5. but then I have to copy each and every dvd that I want to play in the van... FOREVER! What a pain!

Is it difficult to use that decrypter? Sorry again to ask so many Q's, how long does it take to do one dvd? Is this really a feasable alternative?

No, it's not really a feasible alternative. You're looking at 45-60 minutes per disc to do the whole rip and reburn thing.

Please learn a valuable lesson from this experience. People on Ebay and Craigslist are selling to stuff to make themselves money. They're NOT selling stuff to do you a favor. I simply will not buy electronics of any kind from either of those 2 places. Too much chance of something being wrong, as you found out. And it's always possible that the seller simply may not know anything about region codes for DVDs and was just looking to dump some equipment they got cheaply (because it's basically useless in the USA and Canada) without any real attempt to cheat you.

I would at least explore the mediation process with ebay. Also, if you paid with PayPal, you can try (for a fee) to recover your money.

What I've done - when paying with PayPal, I use my credit card for payment - is to file a dispute through PayPal, then dispute the charge with my credit card company (I did not receive what I thought I was expecting), this kinda forces PayPal to work harder for you.

Now, that said: If the listing stated the DVD player was Region 2, and you bought it anyway: I say it's yours and your loss.

  8. Oh I HAVE learned a valuable lesson!
I am unsure of the intentions of the seller, of coarse. But he says he sold 5 other units like this and since I am the first to complain it is basically my problem, he claims the other people are copying disks and "saving money" which is not what my intentions were, well not by the way of movies.

It was not listed with ANY specific region at all! If it had, that would been a red flag that something needed to be checked into further. He claims to not have known about "regions"(but sells electronics) and I didnt' know anything at all. I thought a dvd player was a dvd player. Since it was identical to the one that was in the van I thought it would be fine. I know better now!

    Live and learn I guess!

You should at least convert one DVD with DVD Shrink, burn it and try to play it in your van. DVD Dhrink will remove any region or copy protection. Your car player may play NTSC even though you say it's region 2.

  10. I did one today... out of curiousity, and it would read the disk and then give me an error that said "please check this disk" So that's a NO GO! That's 2 hrs of my life I will never get back :O) But now I know!

Thanks again to everyone who posted, I appreciate your opinions!
