  1. Hi, I have been attempting to encode some of my DVD's to MKV for viewing on my media center. I would like to use TMPGenc to encode to AVC mp4 (just video no audio) for the video portion since I can easily tweak the settings. Then I would like to mux the mp4 video output with the AC3 audio source into an MKV. My question is what is the best way to do this i.e. how do I extract the AC3 track from the VOB files and then how to I mux it with the mp4 video file I have created so that the audio is in sync. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Extract the ac3 from the dvd vob using pgcdemux.
Mux the mp4 and the ac3 to a mkv with mkvtoolnix (use the mkvmergegui).

If you get a sync issue you can try adjust the ac3 using delaycut. Maybe you could adjust sync delay in mkvtoolnix also.
