With .srt subs and Xvid/Divx video, they just need to be in the same folder as the video and the player should find them. That would be burned as a data disc.
With a regular DVD, they are part of the VOBs and are added in while authoring to the DVD format.

yeah hi,I'm trying to burn them as data(for a mac or p.c.)I have an intel mac osx.Should i even be using toast or should i use the utility disc.I also don't know how to create a folder with the subs attached to the movie file.Please excuse my ignorance..and thanks again for you're.Cheers help

Create a folder on your MAC, place the video file and the subs inside the folder (they have to be named the same thing ie movie.avi movie.sub) and then burn the folder making sure you recorder software is set to close or finalise disc.
