    Hi,

I have put a VHS of an old taped ITV channell drama in England.

My problem I have to put it onto a blank DVD for the father in law.

All my DVD I have burnt have been between 2-6 GB so no hassle to go onto 4.7 or 8.5 gb DL Blank DVD.

I have no idea where to start with this massive 60gb. 3hr and 55 minutes programme, hopefully soembody can help me.

    Thank you

    Andrew

DVD Ripping? Nope. Video conversion. Moving you.

You should be able to convert and shrink it and keep good quality. Convert to for example DVD with ConvertXtoDVD, DVD Flick (to a DVD DL) or convert to an avi xvid/divx with AutoGK or to an mp4 with h264 with handbrake.

If you want more help then give more information about the source file, identify with mediainfo if you don't know. And if you want to be able to play the dvd on dvd players? or just computers, etc.

It looks like it was captured using Vegas or similar with the Sony DV codec. if so, you can load this back into Vegas, output as DVD compliant Mpeg-2 with AC3 audio, and then author.

Or, as suggested, use one of the all-in-one tools to convert and author. DVD Flick has been suggested, I prefer AVStoDVD, but the choice is yours.

i actually used Pinnacle Studio with a DAZZLE to connect to the video, I've had problems using this though not the best investment of 60 of my hard earnt british pounds ! I've had problems using it and pinnicle to do not give the best support, i'll try to use this DVD flick thing

    Thanks

    Andrew

I normally use DVD Decypter to get my DVd to pc, and then use a free dvd program called sothink movie dvd maker to convert to DVD, nice and simple procedure for me and it works, but with this large files, i'm coming up against ????!!!!!@@@@

You need to re-encode the file to be a DVD-compliant mpeg2 with AC3 audio, as was already stated above. There are many ways of doing this.

If you know basic scripting, you can use AviSynth and then encode the script with QuEnc or HCEnc (both free)
Or, if you prefer, you can convert it with Xvid4PSP - you can specify the bitrate and it will estimate the file size for you

once you have a compliant Mpeg-2 w/AC3 file, you can use DVDAuthor (or any of its UI frontends, like GuiForDVDAuthor or DVDAuthorGUI ) to make a basic DVD with menus
