Can somebody please help me? I have an mp4 movie on my hard drive I am trying to make a DVD that will play on my stand alone.

I already made 5 coasters. I first converted it to a vob file using the program "SUPER" then tried to burn it with "IMGBURN" I tried that twice 2 coasters. Then tried to make an iso image and burn it using "IMGBURN" that's 3 coasters. I then tried using DVD Flick to make the DVD from the original mp4 using this guide http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/229/59/ it played on my computer but not my stand alone 4 coasters. I then tried to use "IMGBURN" again to burn the iso file that DVD Flick made, 5 coasters. I tried CLONE DVD to burn the converted vob file, I get an error message "unable to open file"

My stand alone is a Panasonic CD/DVD player DVD-RV27.
The media I use worked 100% of the time on my stand alone up till now. Maxell DVD-R. Please anyone I just want to play the DVD on my stand alone. Thanks in advance.

If you drop the MP4 into MediaInfo set to tree view and post the results here, that might give us an idea of what you are starting with. You can blank out the title if you like. The input file may be more the problem than the conversion.

Programs like DVD Flick and FAVC seem to do a good job most times. And before you burn to DVD, take a look at the files (The VIDEO_TS folder - mainly the VOBs) and make sure they are DVD compliant. Look to the upper left on this page for the DVD specification, format and structure. If you don't adhere to that, you will usually have problems with stand alone players.

ImgBurn is mostly full proof and you say your media isn't the problem, so that seems to point to either the conversion or the original files as the problem. Lastly, I'm going to assume you have played other burned DVDs on your player with no problems, so that could be ruled out.

EDIT: One last thought, though ImgBurn seemed to work properly, take a look at it's burn log and see if there is any errors shown there. Blank the title as before if you wish to post it here.

Attached is the file from mediainfo. As far as the The VIDEO_TS folder being DVD compliant specifically where on the upper left corner of this page do i find this info?

All i am saying about the media is that i never ever had a problem playing it on my stand alone, and i have played countless DVD'S that i have burnt on my player.

it doesn't matter what you burn that video_ts folder with, it's not a dvd structure and won't play on anything. there are no ifo or bup files.

    start over.

Ok the snapshot was after i converted the mp4 with "THE FILM MACHINE" THE MP4 itself is a good file. I used CLONE DVD to try and burn the VIDEO_TS FOLDER in the picture above and what came out was surprising...a small clip from the DVD was burnt to the disc and DID play on my stand alone. So i am getting close. So i am guessing conversion is the problem, i need a do it all mp4 converter and burner program that will do the job properly. This is my guess, anyone else?

For the 'WHAT IS' DVD info: https://www.videohelp.com/dvd Scroll down a bit to see the structure of VOBs, IFOs, BUPs and what they all are for.

im gonna take a guess and say the one you did with dvdflick/imgburn was
either a ntsc/pal or region problem.

ps: dvdflick has its own guides on the website.

Not sure if you guys understand, it has played on other stand alones just not mine. So if it plays on other stand alones the files should be ok right?

Well convertxtodvd trial version worked flawlessly except for leaving the trial versions watermark on the DVD. Full blown version is $50.00 I know there are less expensive programs. I would prefer a freeware, any suggestions from you folks would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I would like to thank you all, particularly Soopafresh and Aedipuss for suggesting convertxtodvd.
