    I need an expert here...

So I have Sony Vegas 7.. Almost got around to installing 9..

I have a movie that I'm editing, where the source files are 23.976fps 720p uncompressed quicktime mov files... I'm using these files, because at the time of capture, there was no other good way to get the AVCHD files into Sony Vegas without there being horrible compression.. I had to use the software that came with the camera to render the files into something Vegas could understand.. (thank god this is no longer the case, Vegas 9 understands the AVCHD files from my camera) - and in this software, there were no custom settings for WMV or MPG files... or Quicktime files for that matter, they just happened to be uncompressed.

Anyways.. So my Vegas 7 project is 720, progressive, 23.976fps. Everything plays fine in Vegas and it plays fine when I render out uncompressed Quicktime samples using the same 720p, 23.976 However, if I try to render out more than...about 10 minutes of the movie it will just stop at a random point. It will not be frozen, but the progress bar will never move again. Hitting cancel does nothing but say "User has canceled the render." I have to use Task Manager to close Vegas.

It does this if I try and render an mpg and if I try and render a wmv at any frame size, and 23.976fps.

If I try and render an h264 file, Vegas just Errors out saying there's a problem with the compressor. I have never gotten h264 to work in Vegas.

If I try and render an AVI file at 23.976, it tells me that this is an invalid template.

If I try and render an AVI file at 29.9997 fps, Success. It renders the whole thing, no problem... except for the fact that now my frames are blended.. and sometimes, when it goes from one clip to the next, at the point where the clips touch, the two frames blend together. So this is completely worthless to me, even if it's just for a 30th of a second... you can see it, it's awful.

So.... can anyone recommend a way for me to solve my rendering dilemma..? Is there something I'm doing wrong that causes wmv and mpg to crash when I'm trying to render them in 23.976..? Is there a way to fix the h264 on Vegas..? Is there a better way to render an hour and 15 minute movie, into something that could just be under 1GB that I could get uploaded?

    Thanks in advance everyone,
