The last couple of versions have all run on Vista, however they do take a while to load, and the previous versions would sometimes need to be executed twice before they loaded. The current version does not need to be "Run As Administrator". Normal execution works.

    I tried that too...

But is it because of i haven't got the Vista SP 1?
Cause i'm waiting for the danish version.

  4. I have used the latest version on Vista and SP1 recently. It does work. Check your firewall and see if it is blocking Super from checking for updates. As I recall I had a problem at one time where my firewall was blocking that action and Super didn't start because of it.

Have you tried running in compatibility (XP or 2000 even) mode? Not sure if it will help, but it's worth a try.

edit: Properties -> Compatibility -> (check) Run this program in compatibility mode for: -> choose OS (may default to XP SP2 mode).

  9. Have you tried to re-install from a new download?

Also, changing or replacing any of the subordinate programs in the Super folder, such as ffmpeg.exe, etc. will cause Super to not open.

The install should put ffmpeg.exe inside the Super folder. There isn't any user assistants required in the install.

I mentioned it earlier as a thing to check for. About a year ago I installed a different version of ffmpeg into the Super folder and it prevented it from running.

Yeah, that's what I did once and it stopped working.

How about a complete uninstall and reinstall of Super?

  16. Well, I'm out of ideas

You could try contacting the folks who created Super.

SUPER runs as well under Vista as it does under XP. Make sure you have downloaded the latest build of SUPER. Uninstall the version that isn't working, and delete the folders it created. Reboot, then reinstall.

If that doesn't work, try using something else. Xvid4PSP runs under Vista as well.

Have you tried installing by right-clicking on the installer EXE and running/installing as administrator? (Rather than simply entering the admin password when the installer runs normally.)

I think eRightSoft still recommends turning UAC off, but I don't. It's your call. But, yes, do try other alternatives as well, such as Xvid4PSP (as guns1inger mentioned), WinFF, etc. I haven't felt like installing SUPER on Vista, to be honest... and actually haven't tried using it in a long while.

So is Super not the best choice? I haven't had to do much converting outside of Premiere so I am just now getting a feel for all this.

I will try to uninstall and reinstall making sure I have the latest version. I do have UAC on so that may be the issue.

But I think I will also try these other recommendations, Xvid4psp and Winff. Thanks for the input.

  22. I'm not sure if this is still relevant, but I had the same problem. And found a solution to it. I checked to see if my firewall was blocking it - I didn't want to have to check all of the rules and policys of the firewall so I added SUPER to my trusted applications list. To select the program for the trust application list - I had to find the process. It gave me a process list and I found SUPER - it had a sub process (CMD.exe). I found out that it might have executed this a couple of times and froze - Just open task manager and close every instance of CMD.exe and it should start fine.

I had that same problem. I tried to run the program and nothing happened except for an error.

Here's what I did to fix it:
    1) uninstall SUPER
    2) restart computer
    3) run the installation file "As Administrator"
    4) run the program "As Administrator"

    Hope this helps someone!
