Can the JVC HR-DVS1 playback both NTSC and PAL videos

Just a quick question guys, im thinking of buying JVC HR-DVS1 SVHS player, im wondering, are all SVHS players these days able to play PAL and NTSC tapes, im needing to record them and need to make sure it will play both, I believe the player is European/Australian.

Pal models can play NTSC tape but the output is not true NTSC or true Pal signal. Is a mixt between both, so-called Pal60. This keep timing from NTSC (29.97FPS) and colour encoding from Pal. So, for capture this type of signal you need a device that know Pal60. As a general rule capture card with Philips cipset can capture Pal60. I recommend Saa713x (x=0 to 5) and DScaler.

is PAL60 close to the original raw NTSC footage? because im currently using a DVD-recorder to record the VHS videos. I've done it before, on my older VHS player and my current dvd recorder is compaitble with both ntsc and pal. Thanks, im pretty sure the SVHS player is PAL and NTSC compatible.

I always use DScaler for NTSC tape without any issue.
Most of standalone DVD Recorders will not capture Pal60 signal even if is Pal/NTSCcompatible. Some users report that some Pioneer models will capture Pal60 but I don`t know which one.

ahhh ok! well, my recorder does capture the NTSC video, and it works fine, except there is bad deinterlacing happening when i transfer the recorded video to DVD and play it on PC. see https://forum.videohelp.com/topic374180.html

But the standalone recorder does capture the NTSC video at proper speed and picture, just deinterlacing issues :\. So i think that means it records Pal60?

If is has colour then is Pal60 compatible.

ok i just checked my recorder, it can play 525 or 625 systems, so PAL60/NTSC and PAL/SECAM.
