  1. :D Hi, I am kinda new to this, but I learn very quick.

I am using iuVCR with the tweaked bt8x8 drivers capturing with huffyuv and YUY2. I have the I/O Magic PC PVR tv tuner card and am using it in winxp. I can capture at any resolution I want.... I have a athlon xp 1600+ cpu. The video is interlaced, but encoding with tmpeg fixes that for use on a tv. Ok so here is my question... I want to encode my .avi into a clear mpeg2 format. My dvd player is the apex ad600a. What is the best resolution to capture at, and what is the best way to encode it, so it looks clear on my tv, rather than how blocky it looks now using svcd tmpeg plugin which is 480x480 2350kbps.

    Thanks!

  2. For best results, it's always preferred capturing at the highest quality your card will allow you without dropping frames, so if you can reach 720x480, it will be better, cause then you will get a high quality source, and when you have that, the encode will have more input to work with and the result file will be of higher quality.

  3. When I encode using iuVCR it claims 0 dropped frames when I capture at 720x480 using huffyuv and YUY2. Now, how should I encode this .avi file so it looks the best/clearest on my tv...?

    Thanks

  4. Well, I suggest you first playback the AVI and see if you like the quality, and if you do, then yeah, encode it, the MPG quality should be much higher (not to compare to the AVI!).
