  1. Does anyone know how to schedule recordings with the Provideo PV231?

I got this card a few days ago and I think it is a great card. My only complaint is that it does not have a scheduler. The PV233 has scheduling and I tried installing the software for it, but I couldn’t get it to work.

Mediaforte sells the PV231 under their own name of Trueblue Action. They advertise the card as having Digital VCR functionality. They also have a Action! Navigator Software that the list as a virtual control panel. Does anyone know if this allows scheduling, if it does, does anyone know where I can get a copy?

  2. Since no one responded to my scheduling question I thought I would post an update.

After extensive research I found that there is no way to get scheduling capability with this Card:
I could find no 3rd part software for this card.
I contacted the Manufacturer, No response!
I contacted some of the owners who had posted on this site, great responses (Thanks), but no luck.
I tried installing the software for the PV233 but couldn’t get it to work.

    This is my solution:
I capture a lot of Video, I set my card to capture several hours, and then I set my Direct TV Receiver or Tivo to change channels. So far I have been able to capture up to 8 hours of video in both VCD and xVCD with little to no problem.
I then got a copy of MediaWare’s MyFlix. At $40 I highly recommend this software. I had to get it because TMPEGnc would not edit the MPG files from the PV231 (no sound). I have no real problem editing the large files with MyFlix. It takes roughly 15 minutes to edit and hour show and start the VCD burning. About the same time I save by taking out the commercials.

If I had know now what I would have to go through, and know some of the limitations of the card I don’t think I would have gotten it. The $85 price looked good but add on $11+ for shipping. $40 for an editing Software and xVCD problems, I think I may have been better off waiting for a better solution or getting a bigger hard drive and continuing to capture and convert. If I had done more research I definitely would have gotten the PV233 and there may be a good free editing software.

Keep an eye on ebay, you may find a Provideo PV231 listed soon.

  3. Let me know when you post to eBay, I'll add one more PV231 to the list, mine is in the box, switched to AIW. However What I am looking for is scheduling capability for the Adobe Premiere 6.0, this is about the best Capture software out there (As Far As I Am Concerned) , just can't schedule anything. If anyone knows of anything that will give me the output quality of Premiere and can schedule please let me know. Tried to use VirtualDub Capture, but it hangs up or has no sound. This is via the firewire setup.
