Okay, I'm at the point where I'm ready to add audio to video from 8mm films. Is there a best or generally accepted way of segueing audio from one scene to the next ?

I'm thinking of a scenario where one scene ends and another begins. There is no fade in or fade out of the video. Would it be a good idea to fade the audio out (say, 500ms) and then fade in the audio for the next scene the same way?

If any one has any good experience in this area, I would just as soon not have to reinvent the wheel.

I plan on using Audacity since it seems pretty friendly.

On the other hand, one thing I have learned about this hobby is that sometimes you just have to fly by the seat of your pants until your butt gets good and red ...

I just add clips of different audio to match the length of the 8mm encoded video and author that way, using fade in and out require a lot of editing which i rather not do and doesnt make any difference to me when watching the finished product, what you can do is make a short sample of edited audio and continous audio and see what you like.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

I would look at Reaper over Audacity because you can load the video in along side the audio and see what you are doing. You can add envelopes to make fades and x-fades very simple.
