Hi all. I'm trying to create an SVCD using Nero 5.5.6.0. I started with a single .avi file which plays just fine and used all the defaults on Nero. All seemed to go well, but the resulting CD will not play, either on my PC's DVD player (Toshiba DVD drive with Cinemaster DVD card) or a friend's standalone DVD player. My friend says the player returns an error code which indicates "dirty disc".

An attempt to create a playable VCD ended up with the same problems.

I'm well past the limits of my knowledge here. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  2. Not all standalone DVD players will play (S)VCD's, so that is the first thing to check. The other problem that I ran into when first burning VCD's was that if I recorded any faster than 4x it would not play, so now I usually just record at 2x to be safe...
