By the way, I'm not saying there's no difference between the two cameras. But the difference between the two videos is more a demonstration of the knowledge of the cameraman (lighting, depth of field, post processing -- badly handled interlaced video, etc.) than than the capabilities of the cameras.

When it comes to photography, I know that it really comes down to the photographer (Not the equipment...although it does help). I can turn a crap photo into something good. However, the HV20 is meant for high def video and the MarkII while is an option is really a camera.

The DOF is not something I can control (Unlike the MarkII). I'd like to know if someone can point me to a good tutorial on editing in postprocessing with an NLE.

In addition to the other comments, the distribution format/resolution/ specs are very different:

960x540 @ 1.8Mbps
640x368 @ 0.6Mbps

Also, the image is resized when using the vimeo embed function (not displayed at native size), which farther deteriorates the image quality, user experience, and performance (higher cpu usage required on the end user's part). You should always try to use native size for flash.

Your title says "getting it silky" , and "silky" generally refers to playback smoothness, or are you trying to describe something else?

The HV20 doesn't have an aperture priority or full manual mode? Wide aperture --> narrow DOF. It wouldn't do much for the long shot in your first video though.
