  1. Hello all. I have a quick question to ask.
I have successfully ripped/burned dvd to svcd.

What I would like to do now, is, say for example, some movies have BONUS material, where they show like certain scenes of the movie, and stuff like that.
How do I burn these sections as well ?
All the movies I have burned so far that have these BONUS sections, are not present on my svcd's, and I dont know how to do it.

I thought this was done thru the "menu" creation for svcd's, but I have found out this is a different subject.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanx to everyone in advance

  2. I dont know if I phrase my question right or if I even made myself clear.
What I mean is those Movie Scenes/Extras/Commentaries/ that come on some DVD's.
I would like to be able to make SVCD's that include those as well.
Can someone please just tell me what programs allow me to do this ?
Or if it's possible at all ?

  4. No, I dont use just one disc. All the SVCDs I make are usually 2 or 3 cd's. But size wouldnt matter, I can always use up to 4 cd's if necessary.
Do you know how to do it ?

  5. Sorry I am not answering the question but I would like to know how you burnt your VCDs. I use Nero 5.5 on XP and although it seems to do the whole process of 30 minutes of writing the MPEG or so, at the end of it, the CD is still blank. There is no movie copied at all!!!

    What am I doing wrong?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by BONUS material. If you're talking about the trailers, videos, making ofs, etc. then you need to rip these just as you have to rip the movie.

It's probably a good idea to run the DVD first & figure out what it is you want before you rip. This also allows you to see how long (time) each thing is.

If you're using Smartripper it automatically goes to the movie itself. If you click on some of the other "chapters" you'll find the other stuff that's on the DVD (including things like the THX clip - great for an intro MPEG).

You'll have to encode those things just like you do the movie.

  7. First of all, Sully, I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my question. And yes, exactly what you said is what i want to rip as well ... "makings of ... special scenes, etc. etc."

Sully, please, I hope you can help me out/guide me in the right direction.
How do I "rip" these EXTRA/BONUS scenes from the DVD ?
To Make my SVCDs, I do the following:
    -SmartRipper (extract VOB files)
    -DVD2AVI (get d2v file)
    -VOB2WAV (Get wav file)
-TMPEG (Encode>>Use d2v and wav to get mpeg file)
    -TMPEG (Demultiplex)
    File-->mpeg tools --> demultiplex
    you will get a .mp2 file & .m2v file
-AVI2MPEG (use .m2v and .mp2 file to get 2 mpeg files to burn on 2 cd's)
    -BURN using NERO

    -----
I have no clue as to how to rip these extra scenes. If at all possible, I would like to have a Menu on the SVCD just like in the original DVD that allows me to go to these BONUS/EXTRA sections ? Is that possible ?
And if not, did you then mean that I can encode these SEPARATELY and add them to the CD ?
Plz help me out, and I appreciate it greatly :)

P.S. Anybody knowledgeable of the subject is welcomed to help :)

  8. You seem to be having a few too many steps in your process. Here's how it should be:

    - rip movie with smartripper
    - use DVD2AVI to make your d2v AND WAV file
    - TMPGenc encoding your d2v and wav into SVCD format, encoding it in 2-- 3 segments as you go, to better fit on your discs (choose start and end frames in the "settings-->scene select" page)
    - burn with Nero

You don't need vob2wav to get a wav file dvd2avi does it
    you don't need to de-multiplex
You don't need to split them up later, if you encode it in segments to begin with!

As for ripping the extras, you do it the same way as the movie!
when the program starts, it opens up the movie folder as the default, but the rest of the stuff is there in other folders! you will have to look around for the stuff. find the stuff that you want to save by length, or rip it and play it to see if that's the one you want. As for making menus, there are several ways, but I'm not sure how to do that with SVCDs. I only know how with VCDs and DVDs. I use an authoring program for those.

Thank you mijman. You are so right about having too many steps.

That's what I was trying to say about viewing the DVD first. That way you can see how long certian "extras" are so when you use Smartripper it makes it a little easier to figure out which part you actually want to end up ripping.

When you open Smartripper it basically looks like the explorer with the + symbols. Just click on those & you'll get to those extras you're looking for.

    Almost forgot about the menues...

Nero will take a .bmp as a menu pic, but it's definately not the way to go for good results. You're better off using VCDimager with TSCV as the GUI. Both are available on this site. Another advantage to these 2 proggies is the ability to easily add chapters to your SVCD as well.

This can be done easily first use smartripper then use dvd2avi. In smartripper after it reads the dvd open files lefthand side of program between movies and backup check all the files you want smartripper seems to automatically check only the files for the movie and not any of the extras. that you have to do yourself. Note if you select all of them you will get the menu screen of the dvd none of which will work like on the dvd itself and you will get all the extras that come on the dvd deleated sceens ect. check your settings then hit start thats it. Now when you use dvd2avi click file, open type in file name select the first vts file open then click add and do the same for the next vts fileand do the same for the next till you have them all. the load project after done use tmpgenc you should find everything on the dvd there good luck.

This does not always work with smaprtripper, nor DVDdecrypter nor cladmdec. As I just posted in aother thread yesterday, sometimes the extra features are in the vts_01_0.VOB and this VOB starts out with menu's, in the ifo file (through smartripper and others) it looks like only a 24 seconds length video, but those are the actual menus. After the menus there is the real making of or trailer but smartripper does not pick this up..

What to do in that case..
