Eeek have I stuffed up? I just encoded a bunch of flv's & mp4's (Youtube etc) to DVD using HC Encoder, and I've just realized that HC is set to "Interlaced TFF"! Should I have set it to "Progressive"?

Probably, but what was the framerate of the source? And is the Moon NTSC or PAL?

Hehe, yep. If PAL 25fps or NTSC 29.97fps, no problem. If NTSC 23.976fps, then it makes a difference and they should have been encoded as progressive with pulldown applied afterwards.

Ah ok thanks, I think I may be ok. The stuff I've already encoded have been 25fps clips. I'm encoding to DVD to play on my analogue TV.

I'm using some pretty heavy-duty avisynth filtering and encoding can take up to 24 hours, so I was panicking when I realized I had encoded as "interlaced", but I think it's all OK.

  6. Encoding progressive video in interlaced mode will result in a little unnecessary blurring and artifacting of the chroma channels. You probably wouldn't even notice if it wasn't pointed out to you.
