ffmepx ipod and subtitle

Hello

i tring to compile an avi file with an str file into an m4v file with subtitle
i try doing it with ffmpeg but if i choose an ouput ipod compatible
the checkbox to integrate subtitle is not available

is that normal or i miss someting ?

avi + srt ==> m4v(+srt)

[Case]

For iPod mp4 files, you have two choices for subtitles, as the iPod doesn't support soft subtitles.
1/ Use QuickTime Pro and Perian to save both in one .mov file, and convert that to mp4 using the iPod preset in ffmpegX, or
2/ Convert twice: once with XviD mencoder for hard-subbing, then another time to convert to iPod mp4.

I have an iPod Touch which is basically the iPhone without the phone and camera and it does NOT support soft subtitles.

Use ffmpegX (x264) and Perian (I think not necessary QT Pro lic) to burn subtitles.
