I have been buying cheap blank DVD's at poundland 4discs for a £1 by signalex. I didn't think much about it because I never have a problem when burning .VOB files onto them, but lately my girlfriend says the DVD's I had given her keep skipping when playing via the PS2, it sounds like a typical PS2 problem I had before but I can't help but wonder whether it was because of the DVD disc, its it better to buy a known brand like TDK?

PS2 has always been a problem child with burned discs. Better quality discs will reduce the problem, but you may have to try a couple of different brands before you find the right one. I would start with verbatims and TYs.

does it really make much of a differnce between a cheap disc and an expensive one like TDK?

I looked on ebay, they have some 100pk for £20 by titanium, although they are DVD discs, they don't really say anything about them being suitable for DVD media.

Getting good burns means find the right blanks that will burn well in your burner, and playback well on your player. There is no absolute right answer. As a general rule, better branded media burns better, lasts longer, and plays better. My personal experience ? Cheap media is generally shit.

You definitely CANNOT use these for Lightscribe. Lightscribe discs are completely blank with only a single color on the printable side. They have a special surface and are branded as being Lightscribe discs.

By "picture disc" I think you are asking can you print to the surface. I don't think so. The only discs I've ever used that a printer can write to have also been blank.
