I have a new computer and think it is time to check on a new process for burning DVDs. My old one was convoluted:
I started with DVD Fab HD Decrypter to allow it to analyze
Then I opened DVD Shrink to backup
Then I used IMG Burn to burn the actual DVD with my burner.
This process worked with 99% of the DVDs I was burning so I kept to it. Before I seek out these software programs again, anyone have a smoother more effective process? I do own Nero but don't use it anymore.
Burner:
DVD+/-R/RW 16X 12X +/-DL LS 12X RAM SuperMulti SATA drive
Must use Double-Layer media discs in order to take advantage of the DL technology
Must use LightScribe-enabled media discs and supporting software in order to take advantage of the LightScribe technology
Anyone know what type of DVDs I need to use based on that last bit of info?

I don't think you will find a much better combination of software than what you are using for DVD backup for the price. I use AnyDVD now because I got it for Blu-ray, but Fab Decrypter works the same for free. You could use the ImgBurn version of Shrink and cut out a step and burn automatically with ImageBurn. http://download3.videohelp.com/DVDShrink32_w_ImgBurn.rar I use AnyDVD now because I got it for Blu-ray, but Fab Decrypter works the same for free. If you want higher quality, try DVD Rebuilder, but it will take quite a while longer.

For Lightscribe media, Verbatim seems to have a few types: http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=R&Category_Code=LSM

I don't know if Verbatim makes Lightscribe DL media, but Verbatim DL+ discs are the only one I would recommend for DL burning.

I second what redwudz said, but if your burner didn't come with labeling software that you like, I'll make a suggestion, Acoustica CD DVD Label Maker. They have a trial version at http://www.acoustica.com/cd-label-maker/download.htm

Verbatim makes a Lightscribe version of their DVD+R DL media, if I can believe Google.
