I used Fair Use Wizard to turn a black&white movie into avi with sub/idx subtitles. However, when played with Media Player Classic, Real Player or KM Player, the subtitles would not appear at all. Then I used Subtitle Creator and inputed the sub/idx file and all the subtitles appeared in the list (and appeared fine in the Subtitle Creator screen) with no problem. I didn't make any changes in the subtitles with Subtitle Creator. Then I saved the sub/idx subtitles with Subtitle Creator. The saved subtitles would play in Media Player Classic. (The subtitles color wasn't to my liking , but I could deal with that later using Subtitle Creator.) My question is:
1) Why didn't the subtitles appear initially when I played the avi sub/idx that I just got from Fair Use Wizard?
2) Why did the subtitles play (avi sub/idx) after saving them in Subtitle Creator, even though I made no changes to the subtitles in Subtitle Creator?
I also used VSRip to extract out the sub/idx subtitles and had the same problem (no subtitles when avi sub/idx played).
I have included the following link to the sub/idx from VSRip:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/30/441298/sub.zip
Can someone take a look at this file, then input the file into Subtitle Creator (make no change) and save as sub/idx and tell me why is the saved file different than the original?
