  1. Hello,

I have just received my new CanonHV30 and made some movies to post them on youtube, but I don't understand why the movies are not available in HD mode, only low quality, it's so poor like it was made with a cell phone

I uploaded the same file to vimeo and there everything is fine.

    http://www.vimeo.com/3411219

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vXJ00ULy8A

same movie (i deleted the first uploaded on youtube and tried with another file, exported in mov format this time, but it's dispalyed in low quality)

I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 and exported the movies in 720p (1280x720) mov and wmv.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Probably actually something is 'broken' on YouTube.
Slightly better default low quality, but missing HQ and maybe HD (i not checked yet HD) for new uploaded clips.
Rather hold off for now with upload on YT.

  3. From YouTube:

"We made improvements to standard quality for video uploads! Unless there is a large difference between standard quality and HQ , the upload will produce standard quality by default (and not HQ as before)."

  4. i will check out to see other movies recently uploaded on youtube but i don't think it could be yahoos fault, i rather think i didnt convert it in a format that YT accepts.

the difference between my movie and the one shown on you tube is huge, you can see by comparing with vimeo video, so it can't be reason you quoted from YT.

tanks so far, i will try different setings and upload it again.

  5. After lot's of testing with different tipes of files and encodings I was able to export a perfect file for youtube. mp4

At the beggining I didn't had this option activated in Magix and tried to export it as mpeg2 .. and than convert it to .mov with AVC (this worked on youtube) but I didn't liked that I have to encode it twice.

I activated the mp4 option in Magix and exported it, you tube didn't convert the file anymore, I was able to play it online instantly, without waiting for you tube to process it, like I was waiting with the other files.

    Thank you .

  6. And it seems I didin't test it enough. After finding the option to export mp4, I used some default setings, just 756kbits and thats why that short movie was instantly displayed on youtube.

When I tried to export my full movie I have changed the kbits rate to 5000,this caused my movie to not be displayed in HD mode on youtube, that is too much.

Than made a test with 2000kbit -> OK, 3000kbits -> OK and 4000kbits -> OK .. so for the next projects i will use 4000kbits. Now I'm encoding the full movie (3min) and will upload it on youtube, hopefully it will be displayed corectly

BTW. When I exported my movie 720p in WMV, MOV,AVI I had to wait about 30 minutes for the encoding proces, now with mp4 file i just need to wait 6 minutes for exact same movie, realy big improvement.

UPDATE. It seems the 4000 and 3000kbps bitrate only worked for very short clips, the test clips had 9 seconds. When I tried to upload the full movie, 3 minutes long, i had the same result (video was displayed in very low quality).
If you have this problem try lowering your bitrate to 2000kbps as I did and it worked just fine.
