Hi
I have some serious trouble to get mkv files created in ripbot to work. I have used the CQ mode and the level 4.0 profile. The files can be played on my pc, but when I try to play them in my tvix they play for a little while then the tvix reboot. So I want to try the 2 pass mode, and also change the profile to 5.1. Does anyone have a 5.1 profile that you can share?

	Hi Atak_Snajpera

Thanks for the reply. I guess it's you that have created this application. I must say that the application is truly great! So I enter 8000 in the kbps textbox or do I select the 8192 option? Sorry if I ask questions that you have answered before, but the guide in https://forum.videohelp.com/topic358185.html suggest to use CQ and a low crf for creating high quality mkv files. My understanding was that one should use 2-pass if I want to control the output size.

Since the size does not matter, I just deselect the lock file checkbox and use 2-pass 8192kbps as you suggested.

btw is there any chance a 5.1 profile will be available in future release's

Level 5.1 does not give better quality itself! It just simple information for devices like blu-ray players, Graphic cards and so on. I see no reason to go above level 4.0!

	Hi

So by simply selecting the 5.1 option that information is enough for thoose devices? Is it then ok to choose a higher bitrate. Or do I need to change anything else compared to the 4.0 level?
-
Majority of devices do not support 5.1!!! Maximum supportedlevel is 4.1 !!!
-
Ok, got it. But can you give any pointers on what settings I should use if I want to use the 5.1 level?
-
Changing the level itself doesn't do anything. It just specifies the maximum limitations imposed. It's the specific settings that matter.Originally Posted by elJorda

okay. so i'll use standard 4.0 profile next time.
or is there an adjusted 4.1 profile anywhere that i can use?
-
Again, it makes no difference. Please go back and read the reference link if you don't understand.

It's the actual settings you use on the particular encode that matter. If you want , you can edit the profile in the profiles folder and make your own profiles. It's just a text file, you can edit it with notepad for example. You can make it 5.1 if you want, but it won't change a thing in quality (all it will do is say 5.1 - it's just a label), unless you set the specific settings differently (e.g reference frames, bitrate etc....)

	@elJorda
I have an example for you. Let's say some car dealer has exactly two the same cars. One of them has correct 'This car can go more than 300km/h' label and other has '...more than 400km/h'. Do you really think that second car will be faster just because somebody used different sticker?!?!
