A few basic questions about over-the-air (OTA/ATSC) digital TV channels, and if you please, basic answers will suffice.

Q1 - I understand that a 19,390,000-bps stream is the "meat" of the 6-mhz digital channel. How much of the 6-mhz space is taken up by the data stream?

Q2 - What occupies the space NOT taken up by the data stream? Does it have a specific purpose?

Q3 - UHF digital channels 14 thru 51 can transmit at a maximum ERP of 1,000-KW (or, 1 megawatt) up to 365-meters (1,197.50+ feet) above the ground. For each meter above the mark of 365, the ERP is reduced. If this sliding power reduction scale was not employed, or in other words, if 1,000-kw ERP was allowed beyond 365 meters, what would happen? Show examples in terms of miles away from transmitter.

Q4 - In other countries, there are TV channels that are 7-mhz and 8-mhz in width. This would change how many bits per second the data stream can be. What would be the stream rates for 7-mhz? 8-mhz?

Q5 - If you have 7-mhz and 8-mhz channels, does that have an effect how much ERP you need to transmit such channels? If so, what would the maximum ERP be for a 7-mhz/8-mhz UHF digital channel?

Q6 - Suppose that instead of a 6-mhz digital TV channel, with 1 HDTV and 2 or 3 SDTV sub-channels, we had TV channels only 3 or 4 mhz wide, transmitting one EDTV (Enhanced Definition, 480p) program. What would be the maximum bits per second you could stream through each such channel (3-mhz, 4-mhz)?

Q7 - What would be the max ERP for a UHF digital channel at 3-mhz? 4-mhz?
