Handbrake has an option to use strict anamorphic rendering... this removes the black bars from the top and bottom of converted vobs when I watch them on my touch hd.

I can't seem to find an alternative to this in ffmpeg? (I have a Linux server which I want to use for encoding).

Would it be just cropping the 62 pixels at the top and bottom of the vob? (I don't think this is right).

    I think I've probably mis-understood something!

    Any advice would be great.

Googling for "strict anamorphic rendering" returns just your post, so that doesn't help much in figuring out what they mean by that.

lol, yeah, that's not much help!

I've done a lot of googling, but can't seem to find an answer.

I'm starting to think tha cropping hte black bars, then resizing the frame is the same.
