FreesatHD / SKY retunes everyday?

my dad has recently gone from using SKY to FreesatHD - he says for years his SKY would re-tune everyday taking about a minute - now his freesat retunes everyday taking about 20secs or so.... well he says it takes 25 secs from ON to get a picture

surely this is a fault?

he DOES unplug it everynight , but surely that doesnt mean it loses the channels?

I have a Humax Freesat box and it does take about twenty seconds to get a picture. I don't find that too much of a problem. I just imagine to get going it has a lot to do.

Seeing as I am just old enough to recall when you had to wait a few minutes for the telly to warm up; twenty seconds is nothing.

Having said that it could be different brands doing different things. I have a Sony LCD; channel changing is instantaneous. The Girlfriend has a JVC and there is a considerable lag when changing channels.
