I just have a quick question, in some movies I encode with TMPGEnc (In the SVCD Template) I get in some scenes a sort of "graininess" or fragmentation, tends to happen with scenes with more action or lighter background. I always compute the correct Bitrate using the Constant Bitrate setting in the settings menu, and make sure I have the CDs and time set so that I get the correct bitrate setting, I also use Slow Setting as far as speed goes. With DVD Rips I get very little if at all, but with some older AVI's such as Animal House or others (some that must have been Video prior) I get that graininess or fragmentation of people... Any suggestions what I need to do in order to correct this would be appreciated!

First, all these would or could be activated PRIOR to encoding.
You could use the NOISE FILTER in to take down noise in the clip.
For the lines you can activate the DEINTERLACE FILTER and lastly on the Quantize Matrix tab, you can check SOFTEN BLOCK NOISE.
For avi source files I'd recommend frameserving in Vdub to TMPG and applying your filters in Vdub prior to starting the frameserving client.
See the CONVERT section fro details.~~~Spidey~~~

Spidey, THANKS. Will let you know how it comes out, just changing the Quantize Matrix setting only, I am not really getting any horizontal line issues. Appreciate all your help and quick reply!!
